Marvin Mandel, Governor 2135
VETOES
TITLES AND MESSAGES
for the
BILLS VETOED
by the
Governor of Maryland
following the
1970 Regular Session
of the
General Assembly of Maryland
NOTE
Twenty-seven bills were vetoed by the Governor of Maryland fol-
lowing the 1969 regular session of the General Assembly. Six of
these bills originated in the Senate, and 21 of the bills originated
in the House of Delegates.
Following the provisions of Section 17 of Article II of the Con-
stitution of Maryland, all vetoed bills ordinarily must be referred to
the House in which they originated immediately after that House has
organized at the next regular or special session of the General As-
sembly, for reconsideration.
However, the Constitution further provides that no vetoed bill
is to be returned to the Legislature when a new General Assembly has
been elected and sworn since the passage of the vetoed bill. Accord-
ingly, unless there is a special session of the General Assembly during
1970 or early 1971 and prior to the swearing in of a new General As-
sembly, the vetoed bills will not be returned to the Legislature for
further legislative action.
